Lupul cleared to rejoin Ducks after 1-year absence

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Ducks forward Joffrey Lupul has been activated by Anaheim from the long-term injury list after missing nearly a year following back surgery and a subsequent infection.Lupul is eligible to play for the Ducks in Sunday night's home game against Phoenix.

Anaheim sent right wing Dan Sexton back to Syracuse of the AHL to clear a roster spot for Lupul.

The right wing hasn't played for the Ducks since Dec. 8, 2009. Lupul underwent surgery on a herniated disk in his back and then developed a serious blood infection that required several months of recovery.Anaheim reacquired Lupul from Philadelphia in a trade for Chris Pronger in June 2009. He has scored at least 20 goals three times in his six NHL seasons.
