What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right? WRONG. What happens in Vegas blows up on social media and is covered by every media site with a pulse, FOX Sports Ohio included.
Here are today's links from paths less taken and some more, uh, taken.
By the way, did you know that FOX Sports Ohio has 24/7 automated newswires for the Browns, Indians, Reds, Cavaliers, and Blue Jackets? It's true! Check 'em out today.
BROWNS
Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. He makes every weekend a Browns news weekend. What would the media do without him? He's out partying in Vegas, for better or worse, but he still brings along his playbook.
The media covered the entire story religiously, even while trying to keep their distance from such TMZ-esque material.
Shutdown Corner: Johnny Manziel went to Vegas, so what?. Exhibit 1.
Orange and Brown Report: This weekend in non-news. Channing Crowder gets his.
NFL.COM: Vegas a mistake for Manziel? Per our comment sections, "no".
INDIANS
Poor defense and cold bats doomed the Tribe to a 6-2 loss against the White Sox Monday, but the week as a whole went pretty well for the Tribe. A baby was even saved from a flying bat-missle. Meanwhile, down on the farm, the Clippers are dealing with a flurry of roster moves and in Cleveland Corey Kluber has a heck of a month.
ABJ: Fortunes reverse, errors continue as White Sox top Tribe 6-2. Indians fielding has to improve.
Hardball Talk: Carlos Santana might be dealing with a concussion. Yikes.
Plain Dealer: Chisenhall earning playing time against left-handers. Francona finds his excuse to play Lonnie more often.
CAVALIERS
The Cavaliers made a little noise over the weekend as they began lining up interviews for potential head coaches. Meanwhile, the NBA draft looms, and the Cavs remain cautious about Joel Embiid.
Peter Vecsey: Cavs won't offer Kyrie max extension because they know he'll turn it down. Writer from New York who is now apparently a Cleveland Cavaliers expert.
New York Daily News: Cavs won't offer Kyrie max extension. Suddenly, New York is the hub of all Cavs news.
Hoops-Nation: Cavaliers offering Waiters, Thompson, Bennett, and Picks for Love. Sigh. I guess it's rumor season, isn't it? Hard to tell what the source is here.
Fear the Sword:Embiid impresses in workout, could be first overall pick. Scouts continue to drool over center's upside.
BLUE JACKETS
Not a lot of Jackets news over the Holiday weekend. Rick Gethin came through with the third part of his series with Nick Folignio.
BSHockey: Matt Calvert, and how I became a CBJ fan. NHL 11 sounds awesome.
Dispatch: Bobrovsky, Russia to face Finland in world's final. BOBROVSKY! BOBROVSKY!
REDS
The Reds denied the Dodgers their second straight no-hitter but couldn't deny them a win, losing to LA 4-3 on the heels of another disappointing loss to the Cardinals. It's not all bad news, though, as some pitching help is on the way. Some of the Reds are even able to keep a smile on their face.
Mark My Word: Where was Bruce?. In the dugout, I think.
MLB.COM: Reds nearly flip the script in Hollywood. Comeback falls short.
Associated Press: Dodgers C Ellis hurt celebrating no-hitter. Sort of like when Ted Ginn got hurt following a touchdown return in the national championship game. Actually, not like that. At all.
BENGALS
You know it's OTA time and a dead zone for NFL news when AJ McCarron and Katherine Webb attending a Reds game is news. Well, not really news, per se... more of a photo opportunity.
Cover32: AJ Green named a top-five receiver in the NFL. Not a surprise to anyone tracking the Bengals.
Pro Football Talk: Jeremy Hill signs with Bengals. Cincinnati just quietly going about their business
College Spun: Greg McElroy On A.J. McCarron: I Feel Like He Needs To Stop Making Excuses. McElroy on why McCarron dropped in the draft.
XAVIER
The Big East school is known for basketball, but can now crow about their baseball accomplishments as well, winning the conference championship in their first year. At least, the final dog pile was kept reasonable, unlike other schools.
Enquirer: Xavier draws Vandy in NCAA baseball tourney.
College Basketball Talk: Xavier transfer Justin Martin to visit SMU, West Virginia.
DAYTON:
Word came down that the Dayton celebration riots cost a non-trivial sum, but the cost is smaller than what Dayton's run brought into the city.
ESPN: Dayton cashes in on Flyers' success. Cha-ching. The riot bill is a drop in the bucket.
College Basketball Talk: JMU transfer Charles Cooke down to Michigan State, Dayton, Rhode Island. MSU vs. Dayton for a transfer? That can't be a bad sign for the program in general.
