Louisiana-Lafayette beats Louisiana Tech 94-86

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- Shawn Long scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help Louisiana-Lafayette roll to a 94-86 victory over Louisiana Tech on Wednesday night.

Louisiana Tech had a 41-39 halftime lead before Louisiana-Lafayette opened the second half with a 21-5 run to take a 60-46 lead with 12:59 remaining. Kenneth Smith hit a 3-pointer to pull Louisiana Tech within 67-62 with 8:13 to play. The Ragin' Cajuns answered with an 11-2 run to stretch their lead to 78-64 with 5:10 left and led by double digits until the final minute.

Kasey Shepherd had 16 points, five assists and four steals. Brian Williams scored 15 points and Jay Wright chipped in 13 for Louisiana-Lafayette (4-4).

Alex Hamilton scored 27 points, and Erik McCree had 25 points with six rebounds for Louisiana Tech (7-2). Raheem Appleby had 11 points and Smith 10 for the Bulldogs, who snapped a six-game winning streak.
