Veteran jockey Chuck C. Lopez has scored his 4,000th win.
Lopez hit the milestone Saturday in the first race at Monmouth Park, posting a gate-to-wire win aboard Duffy's Tavern.
The 50-year-old Brooklyn native, who lives in Morganville, N.J., has ridden extensively at Monmouth Park during his 32-year career. He was the top apprentice there in 1979, the same year he scored his first career win with Foolish Tracy at Keystone Park.
Riding professionally is a tradition in the Lopez family. His father, Carlos Lopez Sr., was a jockey, and his two sons — Erick and David — also ride.
