ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Longshot Ashleyluvssugar won the $60,000 ''You Can't Make It Up'' Purse by 1 3/4 lengths Thursday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Ashleyluvssugar ran 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:47.10 and paid $19.20, $5.80 and $4 at 8-1 odds.
Talco returned $2.60 and $2.40 as the even-money favorite, while Jules Journey was another nose back in third and paid $4.20 to show.
The victory, worth $46,800, increased Ashleyluvssugar's career earnings to $215,504, with four wins in nine starts, including his first victory in three tries on the turf. The 4-year-old gelding is trained by Peter Eurton.
