Ohio is the home of the nation's longest running high school all-star game, and the North-South Classic will take place April 27, at Dayton's Welcome Stadium. Here is a look at the North squad.
The North-South Classic will feature two games at Dayton's Welcome Stadium next Saturday. First off is a clash between teams made up of Division IV-VI squads, followed by teams comprised of players from Division I-III.
The North Division I-III team is loaded on both sides of the football, featuring several players that will be playing for top BCS programs next fall.
The high-powered offense will be led by the Massillon duo of quarterback Kyle Kempt(Oregon State) and wide receiver Gareon Conley (Ohio State). This pair helped lead the Tigers on a deep playoff run a year ago. Kempt will also have Cleveland Glenville wide receiver Chris Overton (Kent State) at his disposal, as well as Toledo Central Catholic tight end Keith Towbridge (Louisville).
Running the football for the North will be power back LeShun Daniels (Iowa) of Warren Harding, and explosive speedster Tim McVey (Buffalo) of Cleveland St. Ignatius.
A talented offensive line will be anchored by Kenston's Sam Coverdale (Northwestern), Aurora's Patrick Dougherty (Indiana) and Chagrin Falls' Grant Lingafelter (West Virginia).
The defensive line includes several standouts, including Canton McKinley defensive end Antoine Miles (Purdue), Cleveland St. Ignatius defensive end Kevin Kavalec, Toledo Whitmer defensive tackle Marquise Moore (Toledo), Brecksville defensive end Mike Tyler (Stanford) and Mentor Lake Catholic defensive tackle John Stepec (Toledo).
The back line of defense features three future Big Ten football players in Hudson linebacker Ben Gedeon (Michigan), Solon defensive back Darian Hicks (Michigan State), and Cleveland Glenville linebacker Christopher Worley (Ohio State).
