LOS ANGELES -- News and notes from the Dodgers' 9-7 win over the Padres on Tuesday night.

Luis Cruz doubled to right field to score Skip Schumaker to give the Dodgers a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. The next batter was Yasiel Puig, who hit his second home run of the night — an opposite field two-run shot to right field to give the Blue Crew some insurance and a 9-6 lead.

Tuesday pitching woes

Ted Lilly was roughed up a
bit, lasting only four-plus innings. He allowed six hits and gave up two home
runs in a no decision.

Meanwhile reliever Matt Guerrier was roughed up in a
different way. He took a line drive off of his right thumb. He’d have to leave
the game. X-rays were negative, the team announced.

After the X-rays, Guerrier
said he was trying to move the ball around in his hand to try to gauge what he
could do.

“I can make a fist and I can deal with pain but we’ll see,” he
said after the game.

Guerrier has appeared in 25 games this season. He's 1-2 on
the year with a 3.57 ERA.
