Lightning re-sign defenseman Mark Barberio to 1-year deal

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed defenseman Mark Barberio to a one-year, one-way contract, the team announced Friday night.

The 24-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec, had five goals and 10 points in 49 games for Tampa Bay during the 2013-14 season. He ranked tied for fourth in the NHL among rookie defenseman with a plus-10 rating.

Barberio has played in 51 NHL games, all with Tampa Bay. He has recorded a plus or even rating in 40 of his career games.
