The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed center Tyler Johnson to a three-year deal worth $10 million Friday.
Johnson, 23, became a Calder Trophy finalist in his first full NHL season. He played in all 82 regular-season games and ranked fourth on the team in goals (24) and fifth in points (50).
Johnson, once an undrafted free agent, ranked third among NHL rookies for points and tied for first in goals. His average ice time of 18:47 per game and total face-offs taken of 1,275 led all NHL first-year forwards.
"I'm just trying to play the game," Johnson told FOX Sports Florida in February. "There's no way I would be doing well or getting points without the team. I'm just trying to help out as much as possible."
A native of Spokane, Washington, he was scheduled to become a restricted free agent. He and teammate Ondrej Palat, a winger, are two of the three Calder Trophy finalists. Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon rounds out the group.
