LeBron's praise meaningful to rising star Davis

It's no small gesture when a four-time NBA MVP says your play "doesn't compare to anybody."

LeBron James was effusive in praising New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis before Monday night's game, calling him "elite" and a potential superstar should his growth continue.

Davis took those words to heart, as he said after his team's 118-111 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night.

"It means a lot. It's a testament to how much work I put in this summer [and] last summer," Davis said.

In front of James and the Cavaliers, Davis proved James' wisdom accurate, scoring 27 points on 57 percent shooting and hauling in 14 rebounds. Davis has now recorded a double-double in all but one game this season, his "down" night a 14-point, 8-rebound outing in a loss at Memphis last Monday.

But Davis is focused on the picture bigger than just his own personal achievements. That was evident in his postgame demeanor, the 6-foot-10, 21-year-old slumped back in a chair by his space in the visitors' locker room, disappointed following a loss that comes just two nights after defeating the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.

"I just wanna win games -- make the playoffs, win championships," Davis said. "That's what he's [LeBron] done and I've yet to do that. That's my goal."
