When asked who would get his vote as MVP this season, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James gave an obvious answer.

"Myself," James said, according to an article by ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst.

The National Basketball Player's Association announced the launch of its own annual awards, and although players are not allowed to vote for themselves, The King said he'd put his own name down if he could.

The annual awards have been voted on by media members since 1981, but starting this year players will vote for players-only awards including Most Valuable Player.

James, who was recently elected vice president of the players union, said the awards give players the chance to recognize guys whom they face every night.

"Guys are going to be able to recognize the guys they play against every night and what they do for their franchises," James said.

James also said how the official awards are decided should be a discussion they have in the future.

"It's a conversation we can have at a later date," James said. "The media has done a great job every single year picking the awards. But us players get to see the guys every single day, so it's a longer conversation."
