SEATTLE -- Danielle Lawrie struck out 14 and an unearned Husky run in the third proved to be difference maker as Arizona dropped a 2-1 decision to top-ranked Washington on Friday.

The senior Lawrie (21-1) accounted for the first 12 UA (32-5) outs, tallying 11 strikeouts and snagging a line drive. She scattered five hits and walked one in the contest.

Her counterpart, Arizona freshman Kenzie Fowler (21-3), gave up one less hit, but walked two and struck out five.

Hooch Fagaly singled home pinch runner Maggie Wagner in the second inning to open the scoring, then Kimi Pohlman scored on a K'Lee Arredondo error in the third to give the Huskies (31-3) a 2-0 lead.

Lauren Schutzler led off the sixth with her third hit of the day, and Stacie Chambers doubled her home for UA's only tally.

Lawrie posted two more strikeouts in the seventh to close out the win.

The teams will meet again Saturday at 4 p.m.
