FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Far Right once again closed with a flurry to win the $300,000 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Mike Smith, the Ron Moquett-trained colt overtook a three-wide group of leaders on the inside to follow his win in the Smarty Jones last month with another come-from-behind victory.
D. Wayne Lukas' Mr. Z led for much of the race before faltering to third, with The Truth or Else finishing second. Far Right paid $7.40, $3.40 and $2.80, while The Truth or Else paid $14 and $7.60 for second and Mr. Z $3.40 for third.
Oaklawn's series of Kentucky Derby prep races continues with the $750,000 Rebel Stakes on March 14 and the Arkansas Derby on April 11.
