Freshman Luke Kunin scored the Badgers' only goal late in the first period, while Penn State senior Tommy Olczyk's second-period goal would stand up as the game-winner as the University of Wisconsin fell 2-1 to the Nittany Lions on Friday in Madison.

The Badgers' first power play of the night came with just a minute remaining in the game, but despite a flurry of late opportunities and a 6-on-4 Wisconsin advantage, the Nittany Lions held on.

Penn State's Andrew Sturtz kicked off the scoring at 14:32 of the first period, scoring on the power play, before Kunin tied things less than two minutes later.

However, a breakaway goal from Olczyk made the difference in the second period, as the Badgers fell to 2-6-2 in their last 10 games.

The Badgers return to action on Saturday for the series finale against Penn State, before traveling to Minneapolis next weekend to take on the No. 17-ranked Gophers.
