Lasorda to deliver commencement address at Marymount College

– Hall
of Fame Manager and Special Advisor to the Chairman Tommy Lasorda will give the
commencement address to Marymount College Palos Verdes on Saturday, May
12.  The commencement exercises will begin at 11a.m. on the campus of
Marymount College, located at 30800 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

 



“It is an honor and privilege
to give the commencement address at Marymount College,” said Lasorda.  “I
truly love helping people achieve their goals in life and I intend to tell
these graduates what it will take to succeed in life.”

 



In recognition of Lasorda’s
speech, and lifetime achievements, Marymount College Palos Verdes will bestow
him with an honorary doctorate degree, which will be his ninth.  Lasorda
has given 13 commencement addresses, and has received honorary doctorates from Pepperdine
University, St. Thomas University, Cal State Long Beach, University of Phoenix,
Concordia University, the University of Hawaii, Argosy University and Cypress
College.  The five universities where he spoke but did not
receive the honorary degree are Cal State Fullerton, University of Southern
California’s Marshall School of Business, School of Pharmacy and the School of
Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, as well as Compton College.  This summer he will receive his
10th honorary doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Davie,
Florida.

 



Marymount College is a Catholic liberal arts college and
is one of two Catholic, co-educational colleges in Los Angeles County and one
of five Marymount institutions of higher education. Marymount College is
accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities
of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
