La Verdad defended her title in the $190,000 Distaff Handicap, easily dispatching three rivals Saturday in her season debut at Aqueduct.
After turning back an early challenge from Aireofdistinction, La Verdad rolled to a 5 1/4-length victory over Frivolity as the 1-5 favorite. The consistent 5-year-old trained by Linda Rice posted her 11th win in 17 starts while improving to 5 for 6 over Aqueduct's main track.
''I can only hope she comes back and races as well as she has for the last year and a half for us,'' Rice said.
