LA coroner defers on death of soccer player hit by car

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Los Angeles County coroner's office will wait for blood and urine test results before determining what caused the death of a University of California, Berkeley, soccer player who was hit by a car.
Nineteen-year-old Eloi Vasquez was struck as he ran across a Los Angeles freeway early Saturday during a spring break trip. He was last seen leaving a University of Southern California fraternity party.
Lt. Fred Corral says medical examiners usually determine someone hit by a car died of multiple blunt force traumas, but because of this case's circumstances, the doctor handling the autopsy opted to wait up to 10 weeks for the toxicology results.
CHP Officer Chris Baldonado says investigators are trying to determine why Vasquez was on the freeway. So far they've found no video or witnesses.
