Koudelka edges Ammann for ski jump victory

ENGELBERG, Switzerland (AP) Roman Koudelka edged four-time Olympic champion Simon Ammann for victory in a World Cup event Sunday on the Swiss veteran's home hill.

Koudelka of the Czech Republic leaped 135.5 and 138.5 meters to score 289.6 points, 5.2 ahead of 33-year-old Ammann who jumped 134 and 136.5 meters.

Third-placed Michael Hayboeck of Austria was a further two points back.

Koudelka, who had placed second in Saturday's event, earned 100 World Cup points for the victory. He closed to within two of overall leader Anders Fannemel of Norway, who placed eighth Sunday. Hayboeck is third overall.

Ammann got his best result at Engelberg since winning in 2009.

The ski jumping circuit now moves to the traditional holiday-season Four Hills tournament which opens next weekend at Oberstdorf, Germany.
