Knee knocks out Tate for at least one game

BEREA, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns will play without starting running back Ben Tate Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Tate suffered a knee sprain last week in Pittsburgh, and Browns coach Mike Pettine said Wednesday that Tate "will miss some time." Pettine didn't say much else about Tate's status.
The Browns went to rookie runners Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell last week after Tate's injury and both had success. With Tate down, the Browns have three running backs and one fullback on the roster, and all are rookies.
Pettine said West, a third-round pick, will start the game. West ran for 100 yards on 16 carries. Crowell carried five times for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
Pettine said he'll tell his rookies he wants to see them to "be a complete back, make the right read, finish some runs."
Tate, signed in the offseason after three years mostly as a backup in Houston, carried the ball six times for 41 yards before leaving with the injury.
Pettine said Jordan Cameron and Barkevious Mingo will miss Wednesday's practice with shoulder injuries and should be considered "day to day." Desmond Bryant, who missed the opener, will return to practice Wednesday afternoon.
