Knee injury sidelines Molina in Saturday's game

ST. LOUIS Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, 2013 All-Star and an MVP contender, did not play against the Miami Marlins on Saturday due to a knee injury.
"Yadi wasn't available today," Matheny said after the Cardinals beat the Marlins 5-4. "He's got a knee that started bothering him, so we're having it looked at right now."
Matheny said an issue with Molina's right knee became apparent Friday, when the Cardinals started their three-game series against the Marlins.
"We could see some things happening during the game yesterday that kind of gave us an indication," Matheny said. "So, we're going to have to wait and see."
Molina was unavailable for comment, since he had left the ballpark for scans on the knee by the time Matheny issued the news. The catcher had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in the same knee in 2007. When asked, Cardinals' ace Adam Wainwright said he isn't concerned.
"No," he answered. "I talked to Yadier today. He said it was purely precautionary. Been bothering him a little, but I don't think it's anything a day or two (off) won't heal. But I don't know that."
Matheny's concern was evident.
"Every time somebody doesn't feel good, I have fear," he said.
The team should have more information on Molina's condition Sunday, after the results of Saturday's tests are processed.
