Jonathan Quick is headed back to Los Angeles -- for an MRI.
The Kings goalie suffered a lower-body injury in overtime during Tuesday's loss to Buffalo and was sent home by the team on Wednesday for evaluation.
According to Kings Insider Jon Rosen, Quick's injury is "either hamstring or groin-related" per coach Darryl Sutter.
"We're not going to know until the MRI," GM Dean Lombardi told the Los Angeles Times. "Obviously, it
didn't look good. The trainers told me walking out [last night] it was
not good. They don't know until they get in there and find out what it
is ... nobody knows."
In Quick's absence, the Kings called up goalie Martin Jones from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, and he'll join in the team in Long Island later today.
The Kings face the Islanders at 3:30 p.m. Thursday on FOX Sports West.
Los Angeles also has Ben Scrivens, who is 1-1 in two starts this season, in the goalie mix. Quick has a 10-5 record in 16 starts.
With injuries to Matt Greene (put on long-term injured reserve with upper-body injury) and Kyle Clifford (head), left wing Tanner Pearson (also a member of the Manchester Monarchs) will also be joining Jones and the Kings in New York, according to Rosen.
