MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Love's torrid commencement to the season has not gone unnoticed.
The NBA named the Timberwolves power forward the Western Conference player of the week for games played Oct. 29-Nov. 3 after he erupted for a league-best average of 29.7 points per game and second-best 14.7 rebounds.
As Love has been quick to remind reporters, it's only a three-game sample. "I've learned not to look too far into the future," he said recently. "I just want to take it day-by-day."
Day-by-day has been pretty good through three games.
Most recently, he scored 34 points and nabbed 15 boards in Minnesota's victory Sunday at New York. Friday, he notched 24 and 12 in the Timberwolves' blowout win against Oklahoma City.
And in his first game since Jan. 3, Love added to his legend with a game-tying 3 that sent Minnesota's opener verus Orlando to overtime.
Love also ranks second in the league in free throws made (31) and attempted (39) and is tied for first in double-doubles with three. Interestingly enough, the two-time All-Star earned the first player of the week accolades in his five-plus-year career.
He also has the Timberwolves off to just their second 3-0 start in franchise history.
