Keating's Corner: Our gridiron heroes do it again

It's unbelievable, really.
And I mean that in an incredulous, happy, fantasmagorical sense.
That the Lions sell out Ford Field as often as they do is a testament to the thirst and loyalty of the sporting populace in this great state. The sellouts also provide a nice bonus, in that it ensures that the games will be on television.
But if Jerry Springer has proven anything, it's that not everything that's on television should be.
I admit that I was spoiled by a string of years working in Denver, where the Broncos are religion and John Elway was its Pope. The expectations were to contend for a championship and, more often than not, they were met.
Those expectations haven't existed in Detroit since 1995.
Honestly. Who would ever think these words would be uttered?
