Andrew Bynum's recent suspension seemed to come out of nowhere, but few were surprised to hear that the Cavaliers big man has lost interest in playing basketball -- including his former mentor.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was brought in by the Los Angeles Lakers to be Andrew Bynum's personal coach when they first drafted him. But the two never saw eye-to-eye and now Abdul Jabbar is sounding off on Bynum's situation via his personal Facebook page:

I believe Andrew has always had the potential to help a team when he puts his heart into it. He just doesn't seem to be consistent with his commitment to the game. That can lead to alot of frustration for any team that has signed him.
When I worked with Andrew I found him to be bright & hardworking but I think he got bored with the repetitive nature of working on basketball fundamentals day in and day out... but they are the keys to long term success.
In my opinion Andrew is the type of person who walks to the beat of "a different drummer". So we won't know the facts until Andrew decides to tell us what actually is the issue and shares his thoughts. @KAJ33
Bynum's lack of commitment and mental struggles he had adjusting to his role as a bench player was a burden on the Cavaliers, one that they will probably be better off without.
Either way, Bynum didn't work out for the Cavaliers and we might not ever completely understand why. But I think we can all agree with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in saying that Andrew Bynum definitely "walks to the beat of a different drummer".
