Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison in a cocaine-possession case that unfolded a few blocks from New York's Saratoga Race Course.

The 33-year-old Arroyo was in the Saratoga County jail Saturday, awaiting transfer to the state prison system. He was sentenced Friday.

He pleaded guilty in March to a drug-possession charge. It stems from a traffic stop last August near the race course. He'd been riding at Saratoga during its six-week racing season.

Police said they found about 12 grams of cocaine stuffed in his sock.
