Jim Irsay lashes out about Colts not protecting Andrew Luck: 'I DEMAND better'

By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was the fourth-most sacked quarterback in 2012 and after one week in the regular season, he’s still feeling the heat. During a tight win against the Oakland Raiders, the second-year quarterback was sacked four times and that didn’t please team owner Jim Irsay. Never shy to express his opinion on Twitter, Irsay did so on Wednesday:

The Colts will go up against a fierce pass-rushing unit against the Dolphins Sunday. Defensive end Cameron Wake got to Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden often, racking up 2 ½ sacks. It’s likely that Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle will dial up plenty of pressure to keep Indy’s prized quarterback on his heels.

It sounds like it’s a unit-wide issue from Irsay’s perspective. The Colts brought in Luck’s former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton from college to install a run-first offense, which should stymie some of the heat during the season. Time will tell if Irsay’s message gets through to the offense. Questions? Comments? Send them to lacesoutmail@gmail.com and we might respond in our weekly mailbag!
