Fox Sports Wisconsin writer Jesse Temple finished second in the U.S. Basketball Writers Association awards contest for a college basketball story he wrote in March.

Temple, a beat reporter who covers the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams, was the runner-up in the contest's game story/spot news category for a story he wrote about Badgers head coach Bo Ryan and his deceased father, following Wisconsin's win in the NCAA tournament that sent the team to the Final Four. The story was headlined "With spirit of Bo Ryan's dad with them, Badgers dance into Final Four."

Temple finished fifth last year in the same category, which this year was won by USA Today writer Eric Prisbell.
