Jerry Jones: Cowboys haven't been talking to teams about trading picks

IRVING, Texas - Believe him or not, but Jerry Jones says the Dallas Cowboys haven't been talking to other teams about trading draft picks.
The Cowboys traded back in the first round last year and they could do the same again on Thursday if they don't like their options at No. 18.
"We haven't heard a lot from other clubs," the Cowboys owner said during a 40-minute pre-draft press conference Tuesday at Valley Ranch. "We haven't found that to be particularly productive. That's day-of-draft type dynamics. I'd be surprised if there are not trade opportunities by the time you get to where we're going to be picking or certainly afterwards.
"You can use your logic and say that this club may be a candidate for a trade if that's what you want to think about at that particular time. We go through the (possibilities) of trades and possibilities of the phone ringing. You try to be as ready as you can if that should happen. In general, we haven't been talking to anybody about trades."
Trading draft picks has been commonplace for the Cowboys since Jerry Jones purchased the team in 1989, working a total of 60 deals in that time. On top of that, only five times over the last 25 years have the Cowboys not traded a first-round pick.
Dallas traded back to No. 31 last year, selecting Travis Frederick and adding an additional third-round pick (Terrance Williams) in the process. Dallas also traded in 2012, moving up eight spots to snag Morris Claiborne.
