"If any man is cute, this man is cute." This was of many quotes from longtime friend and colleague, Ted Lightner about the late Jerry Coleman. It has the hundreds in attendance for Coleman's memeorial service at Petco Park laughing. And that's a good way to describe the tone of the service; sad for San Diego's loss, but also happy about remembering such a great man.
We were not fortunate enough to ever meet Jerry Coleman but we got a good sense of what a tremendous man he was through all the passionate stories told by Joe Torre, Dick Enberg, Ron Roberts, Ron Fowler, his daughter Chelsea and Ted Lightner, to name a few. He truly was a man of great character, morales and he loves his Padres.
He will always be San Diego's star!
