NEW YORK (AP) Jamaica's Warren Weir won the 200 meters in a world-best 19.82 seconds and countryman Nesta Carter took the 100 in 10.09 on Saturday in the Adidas Grand Prix at Randall's Island.
Americans Tori Bowie and Tianna Bartoletta swept the women's sprints in the Diamond League event. Bowie took the 100 in 11.07, and Bartoletta won the 200 in 22.68.
Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko and Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim each cleared 7 feet, 11 1/4 inches in the high jump, the highest ever in the United States. They broke the Diamond League record and set a world best. Bondarenko won the event based on fewer failed attempts.
Puerto Rico's Javier Culson won the men's 400 hurdles in 48.03, the best time in the world this year, and American LaShawn Merritt took the 400 in a meet-record 44.19.
In field events, Germany's Robert Harting won the discus at 223-10, and American Jeff Henderson broke the meet record in the long jump at 27-4.
Queen Harrison won the women's 100 hurdles in 12.62, beating fellow American Dawn Harper-Nelson by 0.01 seconds. American Francena McCorory took the women's 400 in 50.15
Sweden's Abeda Aregawi won the women's 1,500 in a meet-record 4:00.13, Kenya's Mercy Cherono took the women's 3,000 in 8:39.84, and Ethiopia's Sofia Assefa won the 3,000 steeplechase in a meet-record 9:18.58.
Jamaica's Kimberly Williams took the women's triple jump with a wind-aided 46-11 1/2.
Brazil's Fabiana Murer won the pole vault with a world-leading mark of 15-9, and American Jennifer Suhr was second at 15-5.
In other women's field events, Germany's Linda Stahl won the javelin at 220-10, the best mark in the world this year, and New Zealand's Valerie Adams took the shot put at 64-6 3/4.
