The Blue Jackets set a franchise record winning their sixth consecutive game on the road tonight in a 4-3 victory over Chicago at the United Center.
Both teams entered the game fighting to get back in the race for the Western Conference Playoffs. With the win, Columbus is now tied with the Blackhawks at 64 points, with both teams owning a 29-23-6 record.
The West's No. 6-9 teams are tied at 68 points, with only the top eight in the conference qualifying for postseason play.
After trailing by one after the first period, the Blue Jackets scored three consecutive goals in a span of six minutes in the second period to secure the win over the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
"I just felt we were giving them a little too much respect," said Columbus Head Coach Scott Arniel of his team's first period deficit. "We have had success in the last three or four weeks because we haven't gotten intimidated by any team we're playing.
"I thought tonight we had a little bit of that. We were giving them too much room to work instead of being up on our toes."
The Blackhawks had a power play with 2:30 remaining and pulled their goalie for a 6-on-4 advantage, but were unable to tie the game. Columbus now has a 9-3-3 record in its last 15 games.
