Jackets select five players in second day

PITTSBURGH – The Columbus Blue Jackets wrapped up their 13th National Hockey League Draft on Saturday at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, by selecting five players during rounds two through seven. “We are very pleased with what we were able to do this weekend and believe we have added quality prospects to our organization,” Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson said. “With our first two picks today and the addition of Sergei Bobrovsky, we have re-stocked the goaltending position, which was a priority for us.” Columbus used its second round pick to select goaltender Oscar Dansk with the 31st overall selection. The 6-foot-2, 186-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden posted a 2.82 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and two shutouts in 28 games with Brynas Jr. of the Swedish Junior League in 2011-12. He recorded a 2.70 GAA, .911 SV% and one shutout in 21 games with Brynas Jr. in 2010-11. In the third round, the Blue Jackets selected Jokerit Jr. (Finland Jr.) goaltender Joonas Korpisalo with the 62nd overall pick. A native of Pori, Finland, he registered a 2.04 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and four shutouts in 38 games with Jokerit of the Finnish Junior League. He also represented Finland at the 2012 World Under-18 Junior Championships and went 3-3 with a 3.02 GAA, .902 SV% and one shutout in seven games, helping the club reach the bronze medal game. Columbus used its fourth round pick to select London Knights (Ontario Hockey League) right wing Josh Anderson with the 95th overall pick. A 6-foot-1, 183-pound native of Burlington, Ontario, he registered 12-10-22, 34 penalty minutes and a +17 plus/minus rating in 64 games. He added 2-3-5, four penalty minutes and was +4 in 19 playoff games, helping the Knights win the OHL championship. The Blue Jackets used the 152nd pick to select right wing Daniel Zaar of Rogle Jr. (Sweden Jr.) in the sixth round. The 5-foot-11, 167-pound native of Helsingborg, Sweden notched 14-24-38 and 28 penalty minutes in 44 games. He added 6-6-12 in seven games with Rogle’s Under-18 team. In the seventh round, Columbus used the 182nd overall pick to select defenseman Gianluca Curcuruto. The Toronto, Ontario native recorded 3-13-16 and 36 penalty minutes in 63 games with London (OHL) in 2011-12. He played in the CHL Top Prospects game and attended Canada’s selection camp for the 2012 World Under-18 Junior Championships. In 2010-11, he collected 1-25-26 and 26 penalty minutes in 56 games with Sault Ste. Marie. He led club defensemen in assists and was second in points.
