Italy's Val Gardena to host rescheduled women's WCup races
OBERHOFEN, Switzerland (AP) — Two women's Alpine World Cup ski races canceled by warm weather in France have been moved to Italy.
The International Ski Federation has announced a new schedule creating six straight days of World Cup men's and women's races in neighboring Val Gardena and Alta Badia from Dec. 14-19.
Lack of snow on the women's course at Val d'Isere forced organizers to cancel a meeting next week.
A downhill is now scheduled for Val Gardena on Dec. 18, and a super-G on the same course the next day.
Val Gardena last staged women's World Cup races in 1975, according to the www.ski-db.com Alpine statistics archive.
Val Gardena also hosts a men's super-G on Dec. 14 and the classic Saslong downhill the next day.
Alta Badia stages a men's giant slalom on Dec. 16 and a parallel GS race the following day.
