Iron Rob wins feature for 2-year-olds at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (AP) Iron Rob won the $46,000 feature for 2-year-olds by 3 3/4 lengths Friday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Santiago Gonzalez, Iron Rob ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.82 and paid $12.40, $5.80 and $4 as the 5-1 second choice.

Gato Dolce returned $11.40 and $6.80, while Freemark was another 2 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $5 to show.

The victory, worth $27,000, increased Iron Rob's career earnings to $63,170, with one win in 12 starts for trainer George Papaprodromou.

Lord Walton finished fourth as the 7-10 favorite.

Jockey Ty Kennedy escaped injury after being unseated in the second race. His mount Midnight Lien clipped heels on the turn, causing the 21-year-old rider to come out of the saddle. Kennedy was excused from his three remaining mounts on the card. Midnight Lien, a 4-year-old filly, appeared uninjured.
