TAMPA, Fla. -- On Tues., Aug. 13 at 10:30 p.m., Sun Sports, the statewide television home of the Tampa Bay Rays, will premiere the latest episode of "Inside the Rays," featuring the life and career of rookie outfielder Wil Myers.

This episode will give fans an exclusive look into Myers' childhood in Thomasville, North Carolina, including interviews with his parents, Pam and Eric Myers, about his athleticism growing up. In Thomasville, Myers played soccer, basketball and was even his middle school's quarterback -- but his favorite sport was always baseball.

Myers later attended Wesleyan Christian Academy High School, known for its excellent baseball program, where he went All-State for four years. Myers' high school coach, Scott Davis, details Myers' career and how he developed over the years. By his senior year, Myers was batting .532 with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs.

Myers was drafted in the third round by the Kansas City Royals in 2009. Working his way through the minor leagues, Myers had a breakthrough season in 2010, in which he hit .314 with 37 home runs and 109 RBIs in 134 games at AAA and AA levels. For his efforts, he received the Minor League Player of the Year Award from Baseball America and USA Today.

Last year, Myers was traded to the Rays as part of a blockbuster deal. On June 22, 2012, Myers hit his first Major League home run -- a grand slam against the New York Yankees at Yankees Stadium -- against former Cy Young winner CC Sabathia. Two days later in his first at bat in Tropicana Field, Myers hit a 422-foot home run.

Hosted by Kelly Nash, this episode will also feature interviews from Rays Manager Joe Maddon, hitting coach Derek Shelton, outfielder Matt Joyce and third baseman Evan Longoria, who personally texted Myers after the trade to welcome him to the team.
