'Inside the Rays: Training Staff' premieres July 30 on FOX Sports Sun
TAMPA, Fla. -- On Saturday, July 30 at 9:30 p.m., FOX Sports Sun, the statewide television home of the Tampa Bay Rays, will debut an all-new episode of "Inside the Rays" centered around the team's training staff. The premiere episode goes all access with various members of the staff, including Head Trainer Ron Porterfield and Assistant Athletic Trainer Paul Harker, to give viewers an inside look at the hard work that is put in every single day by trainers.
Rays trainers are well equipped to deal with the aches and pains of a full MLB season. In a behind the scenes look at the "off-limits" training room, viewers will get to see the full weight room and elastic band exercises that help keep the players in shape. Fans will want to be watching as "Inside the Rays" cameras were present to capture the recovery process of various injured players. Viewers will see trainers working with Kevin Kiermaier as he recovers from his hand injury, in addition to Logan Forsythe's shoulder rehab and the recovery from Tommy John surgery by pitchers Alex Cobb and Chase Whitley. The training staff, winners of the 2005 and 2009 Major League Athletic Training Staff of the Year awards, often works more than 12 hours a day to ensure each player is 100 percent ready for a game.
