Infographic: All of 2014's assists broken down by position

MLB recorded 41,583 assists in 2014, and the infographic below breaks down those assists by position and records how often each assist combination happens per position.

For example, the 1-3 putout combination accounts for 79 percent of all pitcher assists. I assigned lines of lengths that reflect the frequency of putout combinations and displayed the top three putout combinations initiated by each position. The bar at the bottom measures how often each position recorded assists relative to the league. For example, first basemen initiated 2 percent of all assists in 2014 while second baseman initiated 28 percent of all assists. The line length reflects this percentage.
