The Indians have signed right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to a four-year major-league contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal is worth a reported $22 million and will keep Carrasco in Cleveland through the 2018 season with club options for 2019 and 2020.
The two sides avoided arbitration this past offseason when the Indians signed Carrasco to a one-year deal worth $2.337 million.
Carrasco, 28, went 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 40 appearances in 2014. He started the season in the bullpen, but joined the rotation in August, posting a 5-3 record with a 1.30 ERA over his final ten starts of the season -- the lowest ERA in the American League over that span. His season-long ERA of 2.55 was the second-lowest by a Cleveland pitcher since 1970 among pitchers with at least 134.0IP.
Carrasco is scheduled to start the second game of the season for the Tribe Wednesday night against Houston.
