Indians sign INF Hernandez, RHP Rondon

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians have signed infielder Luis Hernandez to a minor league contract and re-signed right-hander Hector Rondon.
Both deals include invitations to spring training.
Hernandez spent most of 2012 with Texas' Triple-A affiliate. The 28-year-old batted .262 with eight homers and 70 RBIs in 129 games. He played 113 games at shortstop and 15 at second base. The switch-hitter appeared in two games for the Rangers when Michael Young went on paternity leave.
Rondon's career has been slowed by two elbow surgeries. He is 36-36 with a 3.88 ERA in 120 minor league games. Once considered one of the top prospects in Cleveland's system, he has been limited to just 41 2-3 innings in the past three seasons. He is pitching this winter in Venezuela.
