CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Indians have optioned rookie Danny Salazar back to the minor leagues one day after his dazzling debut.
Salazar took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, struck out seven and got his first win Thursday in a spot start against Toronto. The 23-year-old was sent back to Triple-A Columbus and the team recalled reliever Chen-Chang Lee from the Clippers.
Salazar showed the Indians he was ready for the promotion, and it may not be long before he's back. Cleveland has had inconsistent starting pitching and the team is waiting for Zach McAllister to return after being sidelined with a sprained index finger.
Salazar began this season in Double-A Akron. He missed the 2011 season following Tommy John elbow surgery.
Lee gives the Indians short-term help in the bullpen.
