Indians announce first non-home opener sellout in two years

The Indians have announced Friday night's series opener against the Detroit Tigers is officially SOLD OUT.
The announcement was made about 90 minutes prior to first pitch. It is the first official sellout of a non-home opening game since July 4, 2011.
"There's a buzz around this team," said Indians Senior VP of Public Affairs, Bob DiBiaso in an interview on the Indians radio network prior to Friday's game. "Down in the clubhouse and during BP today, the players were talking about the big crowds we're expecting this weekend."
So they do notice?
We all know it affects the players when fans aren't showing up, especially when they're winning. (Just ask Chris Perez.)
On the flip side, when they see crowds like the one Friday night, they really appreciates it. The team feeds off of it.
"People might not realize how excited these guys get when they're playing in front of big crowds. It really makes a difference when they see the fans coming out to cheer them on and support them." DiBiasio said.
Great seats remain for the rest of this homestand, including games Saturday-Monday vs. the Tigers and following three-game series vs. Toronto (July 9-11) and Kansas City (July 12-14).
Former Indians shortstop Omar Vizquel will visit Progressive Field on Saturday, to celebrate the unveiling of his 'gold glove bobblehead'. The bobblehead will be given out to the first 10,000 fans to enter the gates prior to Monday night's game against the Blue Jays.
