KOLKATA, India (AP) A promising Indian batsman has died three days after colliding with a teammate while trying to catch a ball during a cricket match. Ankit Keshri was 20.
He received CPR on the field and was taken to the intensive care unit at Kolkata's AMRI Hospital. He was later transferred to Nightingale Hospital, which said he had a heart attack early Monday and died a few hours later. His father, Raj Keshri, said his son had been talking on Sunday but still had a fever and nausea.
The on-field collision happened during Friday's one-day match between the local East Bengal and Bhowanipore teams.
Keshri was captain of the Bengal under-19 team and was expected to play on India's under-19 team for the 2014 Colts World Cup.
