India stretches lead to 222 in 2nd test v New Zealand

India stretched its lead to 222 runs against New Zealand, reaching 110-6 in 31 overs at tea on day three of the second test in Kolkata. Rohit Sharma (20) and Wriddhiman Saha (4) were the unbeaten batsmen at the break.

After lunch, the visitors continued to turn up the heat with the new ball. Matt Henry (3-34) got rid of Murali Vijay (7) with an outswinger, and then trapped Cheteshwar Pujara (4) lbw.

Trent Boult (2-19) had troubled Shikhar Dhawan (17) before, and duly got his wicket, another lbw dismissal with variable bounce becoming more prominent. India was in trouble when Ajinkya Rahane (1) miscued a pull off Henry and was out caught in the deep.

Virat Kohli (45) restricted the collapse and put on 48 with Sharma. But he was out lbw to Boult as the ball kept too low for the batsman to play it. Late in the session, Mitchell Santner (1-5) got yet another lbw decision, this time sending back R Ashwin (5).
