A Massachusetts man at the Tampa Bay-Boston game on Tuesday reached
across the railing and grabbed the Rays' mascot by the neck. The man,
who struggled to stand and slurred his words, was taken to jail. Read More
* It was rookie hazing day for the Miami Marlins, and several young players left the ballpark after Thursday's game looking like female nightclub dancers, in hot pink tops and tight black shorts. On the field, the team looked like the same old motley crew. The offense sputtered, spot starter Brian Flynn had trouble throwing strikes and the Marlins lost to the Atlanta Braves 6-1. Read More
* Florida fans cheered Patton in Saturday's 21-16 loss at Miami. He made the Gators' biggest play of the game and finished with a career-high six catches for 118 yards. In terms of breakout games, Patton had one. He took the field at Sun Life Stadium with nine career catches for 100 yards. * The Jaguars will depart Friday for California, where they are scheduled to spend the better part of the next seven days at a hotel leading up to their game at Oakland and then preparing for a contest the following Sunday at Seattle. * The Miami Dolphins last Sunday had just won their opener at Cleveland. Center Mike Pouncey should have been elated. Instead he was in tears. He learned going off the field his twin, Pittsburgh center Maurkice Pouncey, had suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee earlier in the day and would be lost for the season. Read More

* Linebacker Lavonte David's late hit on New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith on Sunday contributed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' loss, and it hurt David in the wallet as well. David was fined $7,800 for the play, according to CBS Sports. David pushed Smith near the sidelines at MetLife Stadium, which led to a personal foul and allowed kicker Nick Folk to make a 48-yard field goal with two seconds left to give New York an 18-17 victory.
