Horse racing mourns Garrett Gomez


The sport of horse racing reacted with sorrow to the news that jockey Garrett Gomez has died at the age of 44.

Gomez, who won 13 Breeders’ Cup races in his career, was discovered Wednesday at a casino hotel near Tucson, Arizona, the Daily Racing Form reported.
Gomez won more than 3,700 races. His most famous triumph was aboard Blame in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic. In that race, Blame handed the legendary Zenyatta her lone defeat.
