Sylvania Northview huddles after a 1-1 tie for the 2014 OHSAA state ice hockey championship
After seven overtimes, coaches from Sylvania Northview and Cleveland St. Ignatius decided to end today's OHSAA hockey championship game in a 1-1 tie.

"COLUMBUS, Ohio The 2014 OHSAA state ice hockey championship game ended with co-state champions after the seventh overtime. The decision to end the game was agreed to by both coaching staffs after concern for player safety was expressed.
Excuse me?
A championship in The United States of America was allowed to end in a tie?
This is actually one of the most shocking results in sports history.
Was there really no other option? For instance, starting the eighth overtime the next day? Nope. Instead let's name co-state champions!
In all seriousness, the player's safety is the most important issue. After seven overtimes, all those players probably needed Paul Pierce wheelchairs to get off the ice, but they had to find a way to end this game!
For now, let's bust out the juice boxes, orange peels, and hand out participation trophies because we are all winners!
