Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 slate altered

Published Jan. 12, 2012 5:59 p.m. ET

The Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo on Thursday announced that, despite the diligent efforts of a local event committee, the three high school hockey games originally scheduled to be played outside at Excelsior Bay on Lake Minnetonka as part of the sixth annual Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 will now be played indoors at the Pagel Activity Center in Minnetonka on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Those three games will still be played at the same times as originally scheduled.

Due to unusually warm weather in recent weeks, and more above-normal temperatures forecast for next week, the outdoor ice that was being prepared at Lake Minnetonka will not be able to be ready in time to provide a safe, playable surface of the quality necessary for the three consecutive high school varsity games scheduled.

Below is the updated Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 game schedule:
White Bear Lake vs. Grand Rapids (Boys) at Pagel Activity Center – 10 a.m.
Minnetonka vs. Duluth East (Boys) at Pagel Activity Center – 1:30 p.m.
Minnetonka vs. Hopkins (Girls) at Pagel Activity Center – 4:30 p.m.
Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Colorado College at Mariucci Arena – 5 p.m.
Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars at Xcel Energy Center – 8 p.m.

Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on FOX Sports North, presented by Wells Fargo, will include over 16 hours of consecutive hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros.

Additionally, the Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo will combine to host an all-day telethon as part of Hockey Day Minnesota, beginning at 9 a.m., raising money for the Jack Jablonski Trust Fund, which is set up through Wells Fargo. Operators will be at Xcel Energy Center standing by to take donations. Fans throughout the State of Hockey and beyond are encouraged to call the number on the screen to donate. Volunteers from the Benilde-St. Margaret’s School RED KNIGHT VOLUNTEER CORPS will be assisting with operating the phone bank.

Tickets for the high school hockey games at Pagel Activity Center will be available at Pagel Activity Center. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the door.

Please note, the North American Pond Hockey Championship and the Jack Jablonski Junior Bronze Pond Hockey Tournament scheduled in Excelsior will go on as previously scheduled.  More information on these events can be found at www.hockeyblastminnesota.com.
