Hendrickson Named A-10 Coach of the Year

- The Atlantic 10 conference announced the postseason awards for baseball today. The Billikens had several honorees, most notably head coach Darin Hendrickson, who was named the Coach of the Year. The awards were tallied based on voting from conference coaches.
Despite being picked sixth in the preseason poll, Hendrickson led the Bills to a school record 40-16 overall record and a 17-7 conference mark, earning the top seed in the A-10 tournament. It is the first time a Saint Louis squad has earned a first round bye in the tournament.
Senior pitcher Travis Parker was named first-team All-Conference as a relief pitcher. Parker boasts a 0.00 ERA and a conference-best 12 saves. He is the first Billiken to earn first-team accolades since Jon Myers received the honor in 2010. Junior outfielder Alex Kelly and junior pitcher Alex Alemann earned second-team accolades. Freshmen Alec Sole and James Norwood are All-Rookie team honorees.
The 2012 Atlantic 10 conference tournament will kick off tomorrow, May 23 at Houlihan Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Saint Louis begins play on May 24 at noon, when they take on the winner of the Massachusetts and Richmond game on May 23.
