If Johnathan Franklin is going to become the mayor of Green Bay one day like he hopes, there are certain things that the Packers rookie running back will have to get used to.
After growing up in Los Angeles, one of the things Franklin is not yet accustomed to is the hunting culture in Wisconsin and the way that some choose to display their kills.
"I saw a moose head in a room the other day and I went crazy," Franklin said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I ain't seen none of this. I said, 'Is that real? Did you really kill a moose?' It's so different here. I saw a porcupine the other day. I mean, it's crazy."
That moose head was proudly being displayed in the Packers' equipment room.
"Oh, my gosh; from Los Angeles to Green Bay, Wisconsin," Franklin told the Journal Sentinel. "Boy, I tell ya. It's like night and day."
While Franklin may never decide to go hunting and have a moose head of his own at home, he does plan to get one Wisconsin tradition out of the way soon.
"I still have to eat a cheese curd; that's what everybody is telling me," Franklin said. "So, I'm excited for that."
Before the Packers traded up to draft Franklin in the fourth round this year, the UCLA star had aspirations of becoming the mayor of Los Angeles. Talking with FOXSportsWisconsin.com earlier this offseason, though, those plans had started to shift toward his new, adopted hometown.
"Let's start this campaign for 'Mayor of Green Bay' ASAP," Franklin told FOXSportsWisconsin.com in May. "If I fall in love with Green Bay and learn about the history, that might be the city I want to live in for the rest of my life."
For some locals, part of Green Bay's history involves hunting. And, when Franklin steps on to Lambeau Field during his rookie season, he'll see plenty of orange camouflage suits to prove it.
