ARLINGTON, Texas — In what may be the least surprising baseball news this season, Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton has been named the American League player of the week.
Hamilton slammed nine home runs and collected 18 RBI in seven games to go along with a. 467 average and 11 extra-base hits last week.
The highlight was Hamilton's four-home run game Tuesday against Baltimore. It was just the 16th four-homer game in major-league history and Hamilton also totaled 18 bases, an AL record.
Hamilton was the AL player of the month for April. This marks the second time in his career he's been tabbed the AL player of the week. He shared the honor with teammate Colby Lewis in June 2010.
